Brazilian designer Alexandre Birman has a global prestige and a renowned reputation among shoe designers, and as heir and CEO of Arezzo, Birman was born into a family of shoemakers, where his father Anderson Birman and uncle Jefferson founded the Arrezo shoe brand in 1972. By the 1990s, Arezzo expanded rapidly, becoming a household name in Brazil. In 1995, when he was 19 years old, Birman Jr. decided to start his own brand, Schutz, instead of joining the ranks of the company.
The designer started with an investment of $ 3 million from his father, but the project quickly became commercially successful and self-sufficient. By 2007, it had annual revenues of over $ 64 million. At the time, his father invited him to include his Schutz company in Arezzo, and four years later, as the company was preparing to go public, Birman handed over the leadership of the group to his son. The company has the advantage of owning its factories located outside the southern city of Porto Alegre.
Today, Arezzo dominates the Brazilian domestic market, selling more than 11 million pairs of shoes annually. And although nearly 90 percent of Arezzo's businesses are based in Brazil, Birman is building on its current international reach. His brand is proud to own 80 stores in Brazil and has huge growth potential in the United States as there are two independent stores in it: one on Madison Street in New York, and the second on Beverly Hills Drive in Los Angeles, which opened in 2016.
Birman has long been a favorite with celebrities and prominent public figures - from Bella Hadid to Kate Middleton - and was Gisele Bundchen's favorite shoe when she strutted a pair of Birman heels at the 2016 Rio Olympics opening ceremony. In January 2019, the designer expanded beyond heels to debut a pair of sneakers, which Sandra Oh wore at the Golden Globes.
Birman's high-end shoes can be found in online stores like The Luxury Closet and Farfetch where you can get them at cheaper prices thanks to Yajny's exclusive cashback deals.
